CHAPTER II: Exposure

News Reporter: Another young woman has been found dead. It is believed she has been dead for about 2-4 days now. From the way this body was also found, police are on the lookout… for what possibly could be a seri…

“This isn’t such a bad place you have here,” she says.

Thomas mutes the TV. “Sorry?”

“That is sick right? Who would do such a thing, murdering people. People are just nasty” she says

“Yeah, I guess” Thomas replies

“Your place, it’s nice, very clean too. I’ve never seen a guy so clean before… and please tell me the reason for the no-shoe policy again.”

*Laughing* “…It’s just my way to get women to take off their clothes a little bit quicker.”

“Oooooh! Is it now?” *Both laugh.* “I didn’t think you’d ever contact me; I mean, it took you so long, about six weeks?”

“I like to keep women waiting,” he says with a smirk on his face.

“Wow, that is some ego you have there.” Thomas just shrugs his shoulders. “By the way, these pictures, they’re beautiful. You’re an amazing photographer, damn!”

She looks at one of the images on Thomas’s wall. “I have to ask, though, why nudes?”

“Why not nudes?” replies Thomas.

“Oh, come on, can I get a real answer this time?” She pushes him playfully.

“I like naked bodies. I think bodies have stories to tell—the scars, the stretch marks… everyone’s body is unique and interesting, and in its bare form, I find an interesting language hidden there.”

“Wow! But why are the faces not visible?” she asks.

“What is your opinion?” Thomas inquires back.

“Hmmm. There is a certain mystery about them. The idea that it could be anyone. That the person in these images, I could bump into them and never know it’s them.”

“Wow, are you stalking my mind?” she giggles.

“I am intrigued,” she says with a small pause. “Soooo,” she points at the images with her head.

“So?” replies Thomas.

“So, do I fit the profile to be one of the images on your wall?” She does a little cute walk to show off her body.

Thomas looks at her, thinking about how attractive she is. His eyes travel down towards her waist, noting how nicely shaped her figure is. Her thighs show that she goes to the gym every day at 5:30 p.m. for two hours, he thought. And then yoga after. He looks at her as she does a little touch on her face and flicks her hair.

“We just met, and you already want to be naked for me… can we at least go on two or three dates?”

“NOOO, it’s not like that… come on. That’s not what I meant, and you know it,” she says, blushing as she playfully hits him again.

Thomas walks away and says, “I don’t know, I’m just not that guy,” he laughs. “I’m kidding. How about I get to know you and understand you, and perhaps we can have a session one day.”

“A ‘session’? Oooh, okay,” she replies.

“Oh wow, so many books? You’re like a library,” she states, looking at Thomas’s stack of books.

“Uhmm no, it’s for my research. I’m writing my thesis.”

“Damn, a thesis? Ph.D./Doctorate?”

*Laughing* “I wish! Uhmm, MA in Psychology.”

“That is the last thing I’ll say; I do not want you getting into my mind,” she says, laughing.

“Come on, we both know it’s not like that.”

“So, what is your topic?”

“The mind of a killer,” says Thomas.
